I am leader of the International Research Education Programme for Soil Technology And interdisciplinary Research in Soil and Environmental Sciences, “STAiR” stair.agrsci.dk. STAiR was initiated April 2008.

I have lead and participated in numerous national and international research projects (see below).

I have organized and chaired three highly visited international workshops:  September 1994: Time-Domain Reflectometry. Applications in Soil Science, at Research Centre Foulum. September 2002: Colloids and Colloid-Facilitated Transport of Contaminants in Soils and Sediments at Research Centre Foulum. November 2010: 1^st International Conference and Exploratory Workshop on Soil Architecture and Physico-Chemical Functions “CESAR”

I have organized a highly-cited special section on colloids and colloid-facilitated transport in the Vadose Zone Journal (2004). I serve as per review referee for numerous international journals.

I am co-PI on a major research project from the Nordic Joint Committee for Agricultural Research (NKJ) entitled “Persistent effects of subsoil compaction on soil ecological services and functions (POSEIDON) 2009-2012

Received as main applicant and leader of the International Research Education Programme STAiR funding for four co-financed PhD students from the Danish Agency for Science Technology and Innovation 2009-2012

I was project leader and PI of a research project under the Danish Research Councils FREJA-program Colloid-facilitated Transport of Contaminants in Undisturbed Soil Systems (1999-2004)

I am work package leader and co-PI on project on geology-dependent variation in transport processes with respect to risk assessment of phosphorus loss (GEORAP) under the research programme: Animal Husbandry, the Neighbours and the Environment funded by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries (2005-2009)

I was work package leader and co-PI on project concerning irrigation from a holistic resource perspective. Processes included fingered flow, hysteresis, and soil water repellency. Funded by the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries (2003-2006).

I was institutional coordinator, work package leader, and co-PI on EU project (Liberation): Development of a decision support system for sustainable management of contaminated land by linking bioavailability, ecological risk and ground water pollution of organic pollutants. (2002-2006).
