Research aim and focus
The aim of the research group is to provide basic and applied knowledge of the effects of nutritive and bioactive components on nutrition and health. it is the goal that the biological knowledge can contribute to solving nutritional and health problems in farm animals and humans.
The main areas of research comprise:
- Feed and food composition and possibility of modulating substances with special emphasis on energy, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins and bioactive components.
- Digestion, metabolism and effects of energy, carbohydrates, lipids, vitamins and bioactive components on health.
- Effects of nutrients and bioactive components in cell-based models.
- Development of cell and animal models and relevant analytical techniques, including metabonomics and quantitative gene expression.
Key disciplines used by the research group are: nutrition, analytical chemistry, cell biology and digestive physiology.

It is the vision to contribute with basic nutritional and cell-physiological knowledge that forms the basis for an effective production of healthy and safe foods.
