Vision and objective of the research education
The Department of Agroecology and Environment (JPM) aims at promoting the personal development and the integrity of PhD students as scientists. This is encouraged both by participation in and independent handling of research tasks. As a PhD student you'll be involved in the department's research cooperation on agriculture both nationally and internationally. You'll take part in tasks, travel and workshops abroad, which requires good interpersonal skills, ability to present your research and points of view, as well as understanding and respect of cultural differences.
Programme
STAiR is the official Research Education Program of the Department. As a PhD student enrolled in STAiR, you'll have access to an international and challenging research environment where you can go abroad and do part of your research at one of the partner universities in the US, Japan or Europe. STAiR organizes a range of international PhD courses please see the STAiR homepage.
Working environment
The Department focuses on a good working environment both scientifically and socially. As a PhD student you become member of the department's Young Scientist's Forum with more than 30 PhD students and postdocs. You may browse a list of current PhD students and explore their different research themes here.
DJF's PhD School, SAFE, organizes all the research education programmes at the faculty. It acts as an umbrella to ensure equally high quality standards in PhD research projects, supervision, PhD courses, and to organize all formal PhD procedures related to enrolment, progress in studies, defence of theses and completion of studies and PhD certificates.
Both the Faculty and JPM have PhD committees, which give advice to SAFE and STAiR, and where PhD students are members in order to facilitate their influence on the PhD studies.
